Today is all about radio on Take Me Back Tuesday:

Do you like listening to the radio? why or why not?

I do once in a while, if I'm feeling like listening to random songs. I do enjoy listening to internet radio, too.

How many songs can you remember that are about the radio or mention radio in the lyrics or title?

"Radio Radio" by Elvis Costello and "The Last DJ" by Tom Petty. That's all I'm going to attempt to name tonight.

Do you have any memories associated with the radio?

I remember listening to it constantly when I was in middle and high school. I'd lay on my bed and daydream while hearing the lastest pop hits. I also used to record songs off the radio when I was even younger. I remember one tape I made by randomly going to different stations on the dial. I had no idea what I was listening to. That was a fun and exciting time, way before I had any ideas about genre or what a "good" song is. I also remember flipping through the dial really fast trying to see if I could record a funny sequence of phrases from songs and commercials.

No, it didn't take much to entertain me back then.

Have you ever called in a request to your favorite station?

I have, when I was younger. You see, kids, those were the days when you couldn't just go online and download something when you wanted to hear it. You either begged your parents to buy it for you, or you waited until it was on the radio or MTV.

Bonus:

If you could request a song right now what song would you pick

I'm listening to Roy Orbison right now, so I suppose I'd request "Dream Baby." I was gonna say "Oh, Pretty Woman" but I'm listening to that right now.

1. I have a tough time listening to the radio because I flip through stations way too much. On the other hand I enjoy listening to Howard Stern every morning.

2. I don't feel like thinking too hard but the first one that comes to mind is "Video Killed the Radio Star."

3. Not really, I was never a big radio person.

4. I've called in for contests but not to request a song.

Bonus - If I could request a song I would choose: "Trees" by Rush

Oh GAWD, I remember 'tape recording' songs from the radio and even having the DJ's voice in there at the end, trying to dub it out somehow, cutting off the rest of it. Ah, memories.

Great stuff.

Just think, all the kids today will never have the experience of taping stuff from the radio! What a shame.
