Today someone showed me a Livejournal done from the perspective of a character from the "Harry Potter" books. This got me thinking . . .
What would classic works of fiction be like if they were written today, and used contemporary technology?
Would we be reading blog entries instead of written journals and letters in "Dracula"? Would not Jonathan Harker try to find somewhere to plug in his laptop in Castle Dracula to e-mail for help? Would we not see something from minaharker.blogspot.com saying "Lucy's getting worse, gtg, will blog later when I find out more."?
Would not Dr. Van Helsing do a Google search on "how to kill a vampire"?
Or how about Tess D'Urberville putting Alec on "Ignore"?
Instead of that nasty Consumption in all those Victorian novels, people would be getting computer viruses. Oliver Twist would be in trouble with the law for downloading illegal mp3's. Dorian Gray wouldn't have a portrait, he'd have a webcam he could never view. Dr. Jeckyll would go into chat rooms as "MrHyde20343" and prey on unsuspecting young ladies.
And the Great Gatsby would DEFINITELY be arrested for identity theft!
