Here's this week's Top Five On Friday courtesy of Andrea at The Music Memoirs:
Top five songs and or albums from artists that are no longer with us.
1) "Grace" by Jeff Buckley (Album)
2) Anything Jimi Hendrix ever performed or recorded. But especially Electric Ladyland and Voodoo Child (Slight Return).
3) "Nevermind" by Nirvana, whose lead singer Kurt Cobain is no longer with us. (Album)
4) "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. It's actually a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song, but Johnny made it his own before he passed. (Song)
5) There are many people I could put here: Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, Elvis, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jim Morrison. But I think what I'll put in the last spot is "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by the Beatles who are obviously missing John Lennon and George Harrison. I've never actually heard it, but I've heard enough about it to know that it's an extremely important album in music history.
