Jonny Lang concert report

Wow!! Tonight's concert experience was nothing short of amazing. The show was opened by a woman named Keri Noble. Andrea was right! Keri is an awesome performer! She has a very bluesy, soulful voice that's also very tender and beautiful. She kind of sounds like Chantal Kreviazuk, Pink and Taylor Hanson. Maybe a bit of Janis Joplin too. She's a very captivating performer and quite a good pianist too. She really worked the crowd and was extremely friendly. After her amazing 45 minute set, she went into the lobby to sign autographs. I bought her CD and got her to sign the cover!! So I actually met the woman! She's quite beautiful and extremely nice. She was even handing out brand new special editions of her CD to those who bought a copy of the original version.

I'll never forget seeing Keri Noble, she was just incredible and should headline her own shows someday in the future. But the evening wasn't even close to done when Keri finished her set. Jonny Lang started playing about 20-30 minutes after Keri finished. His tour right now is an acoustic tour. He started off strong with "Long Time Coming," which I was very much hoping he'd play. His voice just FILLS the entire concert hall! He sings as good or better live as he does on his albums. It sends a chill down your spine to hear and feel the power of his voice. His band members came on and off of the stage during the set to add their instrumental touch. Aside from Jonny's acoustic guitar, there were other acoustics, keyboards, drums, electric guitar, mandolin, bass guitar, percussion, and even steel guitar. Partway through the concert Jonny surprised the audience by playing his electric guitar for a few songs!! That was a great treat to hear. He's honestly as good on acoustic as he is on electric. He brings so much energy and passion to every song.

Songs he played that I know the names of include Long Time Coming, Red Light, If We Try, Wander This World, To Love Again, Lie To Me, I Am, Breaking Me, and When I Come To You. There were a few songs that I didn't recognize. I think one is called "Have A Talk With God" and it was just INCREDIBLE. Jonny was strumming away on his acoustic, and one of his band members rocked the house with an electric slide guitar!! That song was definitely one of my favorites.

Jonny played for about an hour, and then had a sweet encore including a song I don't know, Red Light, and I Am as the final song of the night. He played I Am for what seemed to be at least ten minutes, and really jammed out on his guitar near the end. The crowd was going nuts and loving every minute of it.

Speaking of the crowd, I'd say it was one of the more excited crowds I've been a part of. We were clapping and stomping and shouting the entire night, and people were yelling out song titles they wanted Jonny to play. They also told him how much they loved him and his music and he told us how happy he was to be playing for us.

I went with my buddy Mike, and we got some of the very few tickets left!! We sat way up high in the balcony but still had a good view.

Jonny's set was intense, electrifying, loud, captivating and highy enjoyable. He had many surprises for the fans and showed everyone how awesome he really is. I had a great time and I'm so very glad I went.
