McDonald's Big Mac Rap-Attack Plan Hits Snag

The above article is boiling my blood this afternoon! If you're reading this and the article is gone, the article is/was about a marketing plan McDonald's was considering. It involved paying rappers to use the phrase "Big Mac" in their songs.

Does that make anyone else as upset as I am? Regular advertising is a necessary evil, and OK in regular doses. What McDonald's was planning, however, is entirely deceptive and very disrespectful of the artistic process. I sincerely hope that NO artist, rapper or not, would ever consider taking money to mention a product in their song. Once you cross that line, you've sold out without a doubt. It's one thing to mention something in your song because you like it, but to have someone PAY you to mention it is completely wrong.

I think McDonald's has lost touch with reality. They've certainly lost touch with how to promote their product. I don't think Big Macs need promoting anyway, but if they do then why not try improving the product? Improving it by, let's say, making it fresh and to order, in a timely manner, with a smile. Served by an employee who wants to be there and is getting paid above minimum wage. The way it used to be done.

I'm usually very loyal to artists whose music I enjoy, but if someone I liked actually took money in exchange for a product plug I don't think I'd have a very good opinion about them to say the least.

holy shit! I'm thinking of that movie with Sylester Stallone that takes place in the future and in it, in the future, all songs are jingles for products! Damn, I forget the name of it...have you seen it? It's actually happening!
