A couple weeks ago I ordered my first set of digital prints from Walmart.com, and they came to the store today. They turned out really good! The detail is just incredible. I can see things that I may not have been able to see easily on the computer screen.
The downside is that Walmart crops the images, thus borders on some of my shots are lost. I think the worst example of that is a picture of my grandparents where the top of my grandfather's head was cropped off. At least now I know they do that, so I'll had to adjust for that when shooting my photos. If it's really a distraction for some shots, I could also try printing them out myself.
That's all for now. I'll try to think of something interesting to talk about this weekend. Otherwise, we'll just have the same ol' stuff.
*edit* I figured out why the images were cropped - because my camera doesn't make them in a 4X6-equal size! None of the settings available will produce an image that can be proportionately sized down to 4" height by 6" width. I CAN change the size of the image to make it equal to that. It stretches the image a bit, but enough to be noticeable? We shall see. I think I may have to do an experiment soon by printing out a limited number of shots, only in the new size.
*edit #2* I just figured out that, on Irfanview (the image-viewing program I use) you can make a border on your image! I think that would be the ideal solution to my problem. Why? Because I'll be able to see the entire image (even though it will be a bit smaller) and it will be the original proportion without any stretching!*
