I'm back with the Monday Music Mambo. Today's theme is History Repeats Day!

1. Name your three favorite cover songs.

"Little Wing" by Stevie Ray Vaughan (original by Jimi Hendrix)
"Toxic" by Nickel Creek (original by Britney Spears)
"Landslide" by Dixie Chicks (original by Fleetwood Mac)

*edit* Was reminded of a few more:

"All Along The Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix (original by Bob Dylan)
"Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley (original by Leonard Cohen)
"Hurt" by Johnny Cash (original by Nine Inch Nails)

2. What's one artist, concert or musical era that you'd like to have been alive to see, or see again if you saw it in the past?

I'd absolutely love to have been around for Jimi Hendrix. He was one of the most amazing musicians we've ever seen. Generally, I'd love to have been around for the 60s and 70s Golden Age of rock and roll. I want to know what it was like being blown away by ever new release from Led Zeppelin or Cream and to hear things I've never heard before.

3. What's one history lesson that you think a certain band or musician, or all musicians, should quit repeating?

Well, David Lee Roth has recently been hinting at Van Halen reuniting. Give it up, David, it's never going to happen. Your ego is far too big for a band to handle. The band had a good run in the 1980s, but that time is over.

4. Name a band that's not together anymore (members can be alive or dead) that you would absolutely love to see reform.

Well, hopefully we'll see the Smashing Pumpkins reunite. I know Billy Corgan is making music with a band he's calling the Smashing Pumpkins, but I don't know if it's the original band. It would be great if it is, though!

Obviously, another good band to get back together (if the members were all still alive) is The Beatles. I think anyone paying attention to popular music would beg for that scenario. I'd also like to see The Who reunite if the members were all still alive. I would have said Led Zeppelin, but Robert's voice is not what it used to be.

Great stuff! Jimi, Cream, and the Mighty Zep - I certainly would've enjoyed them in their prime.
