Ok this is just hilarious and wrong.

I'm reading an article about yet another stolen government laptop containing many sensitive data. The advertisement in the middle of the page is for Toshiba laptop computers for "just $549!"

If you ask me, articles like these aren't going to get people buying laptops. Forget the sensitive information angle of it - all these instances tell me that laptops are stolen quite often! These are just the high-profile cases we hear about in the media, so just think how many are stolen everyday that AREN'T reported!

I think I'll stick to my desktop computer.

I am a laptop owner not exactly by choice though. My school gives them out to all the students for free. I must say I love it but never really had a fear of it getting stolen. I can certainly understand your fear of getting one stolent though, a lot of personal information not to mention the cost of one. I have had mine for nearly three years now and have traveled in the NY subway and in other public places with it and so far so good (knock on wood.)
