My Music Year In Review

Hi gang! As 2006 comes to a close, I reflect on what happened in the past 365 days. It was quite a wild ride for me with many ups and downs. It was also a year of many, many CD purchases. I know I'm part of a declining number of folks who actually buy CDs, but it's my preferred way to get music.

Here is the list of what I've bought/received this past year:

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II
The Who - Endless Wire

Grand total: 56 albums!! That's quite a personal record for me. When I was in college, I don't think I even had 56 total albums in my collection yet.

Percentage of my total collection (including albums I never listen to any more): 56 out of 189 total. That's about 30 percent of my total collection.

Total cost of all these CDs had I bought each of them for an average price of sixteen dollars: A whopping $896!

Biggest buying month: September (29 albums). That's counting 27 that I bought from my friend Jessica!

Amount I would have paid for all 27 albums Jessica sent me, had I paid an average of sixteen dollars each: $432

Amount I actually paid for them, at $5 apiece: $135

Dollars I saved buying them from her: $297

Wow, that was one great year for new music purchases! I don't think I'll top it this year, and I really don't want to. I have enough music to listen to as it is.

Here are the concerts I saw this year:

Savoy-Doucet Band, April
Los Lobos, August
Buddy Guy, August
Natalie MacMaster, October

I'm glad I discovered La La. I get to sample more music and get rid of any duds I've bought for 1.75. It's a neat concept.

And lordy I don't even want to tally up what I spend on CDs last year.
