What's up with Blogger today? The posting page isn't fully loading for me, even after many, many tries. Whatever, at least I can still post.
The big music news from yesterday is that Chris Cornell is leaving Audioslave for good, thus ending that three-album project. I really enjoyed the music the band made, for the most part. They were a blast of good old-fashioned rock in an image-conscious time.
I guess I should have seen it coming. Chris Cornell releasing a solo album was the first clue. The second was Rage Against The Machine reuniting for one show. I have suspicions that it will go longer than that. Look at Van Halen - who would have thought they'd get back together with David Lee Roth?
How do I feel about it? Well, I'm kind of upset. Mostly I think I'm upset because this means Revelations will be their final album. They'll never get a chance to top it. I like it, but I don't like it as much as I hoped I would. They did seem to be exploring a new direction, and who knows what a fourth album would have brought? On the positive side, at least this will keep them from putting out a really bad album and giving their critics something to use against them. For all the talk about how great the experience recording their last album was, maybe it was the eventual breakup that made that album disappoint me.
I'm going to put the Friday Feast in this post too, in case the Post Page screws up again.
Appetizer - What sound, other than the normal ringing, would you like your telephone to make?
How about silence? That's the sound I'd like it to make.
Soup - Describe your usual disposition in meteorological terms (partly cloudy, sunny, stormy, etc.).
Usually calm with chances of an occasional shower.
Salad - What specific subject do you feel you know better than any other subjects?
I seem to know a lot about music, so that will be my answer. I know a lot about photography, but not nearly as much as I'd like to.
Main Course - Imagine you were given the ability to remember everything you read for one entire day. Which books/magazines/newspapers would you choose to read?
I'd read everything I could get my hands on! I suppose I'd have to spend the day in a library.
Dessert - If a popular candy maker contacted you to create their next confection, what would it be like and what would you name it?
I can't think of anything, so let's just eat some chocolate.
