We Are The Champions (maybe)

My former schools' basketball teams are doing quite well in the playoffs. Well enough that they're both in the championship games of their leagues tonight.

The University of Oregon has played its way into the Pac-10 Championship. If they win tonight, they receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament and, hopefully, the respect of all the other teams and coaches. If they pull this off, I think it makes up for some of the losses earlier in the season. It's not how you start, after all, it's how you finish.

North Eugene High School, meanwhile, is the only undefeated high school basketball team in Oregon. They're in the 5A Championship game tonight at MacArthur Court. It's been 30 years since North won their last state championship, so it would be extra special for them to win this year. Winning the new 5A classification championship isn't quite the same as winning the old 4A championship, but a title is a title! I think it's about time North gets some recognition for something.

I'll give an update tonight or tomorrow and talk about the results of both games!
