Top Five On Friday - 8/31/07

It's time for another Top Five:

Top 5 best opening lines in rock music

I don't know if I'd call these the "best" opening lines. I would, however, say they are all memorable opening lines. I just don't remember enough lyrics to make a "best" judgment.

1) "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey.

Just a small town girl
Living' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere.

2) "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

3) "Bullets With Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins

The world is a vampire.

4) "Anarchy In The U.K." by The Sex Pistols

I am an anti-christ.
I am an anarchist.

5) "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a popular choice. I did mine all in costello lyrics. And mine will be posted as soon as my playlist is uploaded so everyone can listen :)

The Sex Pistols line is a great choice. Wish I'd thought of it!

Awesome picks! Almost went w/ "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Stairway To Heaven" (chose "Black Dog" instead) myself! :-)
