As I mentioned earlier, I went out today and took photos of the Hult Center in downtown Eugene. What is the Hult Center, you ask? It's our performing arts center - opera, orchestras, Bach festival, ballet, theater productions, that sort of thing. It turns 25 years old this week, so I thought now would be the best time to get out there and take some pictures of it!
There's a cool little Japanese garden in the back of the courtyard between the Hult and the Hilton. It is for the memory of local Japanese folks who were sent to internment camps during World War II - the Hult Center site was the location of the office where they were processed before being sent to the camps. This is a statue in the center of it all:
I also took a few pictures of the Hilton hotel next door:
I had a really enjoyable time photographing these important Eugene landmarks. I have an idea for a new project - downtown Eugene in black and white!

Oh neat! And they didn't hassle you for taking photos of buildings? There are a few places in Pittsburgh where they take security a bit too seriously. (especially as the building in question appears in many movies.)
I think Eugene's pretty laid-back about that sort of thing. There weren't too many people there anyway - just a few people waiting in line for tickets and some guys doing maintenance work.
