I did it! I actually managed to turn the computer off after lunch and keep it off until after dinner. In the hours between meals, I did exactly what I said I would - read.
What did I read? I made some progress in the novel I'm on (Hunchback of Notre Dame). I also read my "100 Albums That Changed Music" book, a hockey magazine, album liner notes, and a little of the George Carlin book I've been reading lately.
Strangely enough, the time went by very fast! I thought the hours would just drag along, but I feel like I could have read for hours more. I'll try to do some more tonight, and I'll try to do the "turn the computer off" thing again. I'll try for once per week.
I'll admit I was tempted a few times to turn the computer on, but it was not nearly at tempting as when it's actually on.
