Writing Wednesday - 1/16/08

I think this is the first time I've played my other meme - Writing Wednesday.

Writing Wednesday supplies a beginning. All you need to do to play is supply an end. Be as creative as you like - it's all up to you!

Harvard just announced Paris Hilton as Woman of the Year - a very unpopular choice. Who do YOU think should be Woman of the Year?

I think Benazir Bhutto is Woman of the Year. Not for what she did, but for what she could have done and what she wanted to do. She's Woman of the Year for what she meant and still means to international politics. Her assassination last month will prove to be a turning point - will the madness in Pakistan end, or just get worse?

I can't think of a single woman whose success or failure was more important in the past year. Certain parties wanted her elected Prime Minister again, and others wanted her dead (and, unfortunately, succeeded). I don't know if Pakistan will ever find democracy, but I think it would be an honor to Bhutto's memory if the country could somehow find peace.
