Really good (and long) Costello interview

Well, Elvis Costello has left my doghouse just as soon as he went in. I searched a little bit online and found out that his new album MAY be released on CD after all.

I also found this really great web interview with the man. One of the topics discussed is the re-re-reissue of his classic albums. Basically, Elvis says that he disagrees with the release of the Deluxe Editions, at least at the current price. He thinks the record companies are shooting themselves in the foot by releasing such high-priced products. So all is well - Elvis has very little to do with what Universal is doing with his albums.

But that's not all! The interview also talks about concerts, fatherhood, the internet, the future of music, and so much more.

Here are a couple good quotes I enjoyed from the interview:

"I've had people come up to me and go, thank you for turning me onto George Jones. And I'm thinking well, goodness me, if me just recording Good Year For The Roses, whether or not it was a good record or not, had anybody buy a George Jones record, then my work here is done."

"I don't get up when anybody else has to get up. That's really all I ever wanted to do in this business, I didn't really want anything else from it."

I think I'm going to buy the vinyl next month..because I love vinyl and still have a turntable. Plus I have no Costello on vinyl!

I do my best not to read his interviews because he tends to come off to me as being a pompous arrogant prig.

And him talking about fatherhood has to be a hoot. Hopefully he does better with the twins than he did with his first son.
