Top Five On Friday - 1/29/10

Top Five!

Top 5 one hit wonders

I tried to pick something from each decade.

1)  "Take On Me" by A-Ha.  The beat.  The synths.  The iconic video.  The falsetto.  This song is it!

2)  "How Bizarre" by OMC.  Made by a group from New Zealand, this song features something a little different.  It's a story more than a song, and it features horns and accordions.  It's also hard to get out of your head.

3)  "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow.  You can't deny that Bo Diddley beat.

4)  "Rock and Roll Part 2" by Gary Glitter.  We all know this artist has had his share of troubles, but the fact remains that this is a song that everyone knows.  Most people don't even know what it's called or who sings it, but they still know it.  It has to be some sort of record for fewest number of lyrics in a hit song.

5)  "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley.  I know they put out some other singles, but I've never heard them and I bet you haven't either.  "Crazy," on the other hand, was inescapable in 2006.

A-ha would be offended as they just broke up and had a few hits besides that one song..more in the UK then here...but they did do a Bond theme song :)
