And the blog postings keep coming! Here's number 1002, and it's a Top Five On Friday:
Top 5 "British" Bands and a song by each
1) The Beatles. Who else? I mean, cmon, is there anyone better anywhere? "Yesterday" is a particularly great song by them.
2) The Rolling Stones. Ya can't get any more rock and roll than these dudes. I have to pick "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" as their featured song. That's a classic and always will be.
3) The Who. I haven't heard too much of their stuff, but I like them anyway. One of my favorites is "Baba O'Reilly."
4) Elvis Costello and the Attractions. Haven't heard much from these guys either, but I like what I have heard. They were as musically tight and spot-on as anyone. "Pump It Up" is one of their best.
5) Led Zeppelin. Well, ok, they were great up to and including Physical Graffiti, and then they kind of slipped in quality. But their first four albums are absolute classics and formed hard rock as we know it. My chosen song for them is "Stairwa . . .
Ha, just kidding. Let's forget the obvious and listen to something different like "Thank You."
Honorable mention: The Animals, Cream, and (because they're not 100% british) The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Belle and Sebastian, U2 and The Eurythmics

The two best EC and the Attractions CDs are Imperial Bedroom and Blood and Chocolate. Both are high on my favorites lists.
The funny thing is the only diffrence between the Attractions and the Imposters (his current band) is the bass player.
Hmm that's odd that you think Led Zep was good UP TO Physical Graffiti as some think that was their best .. (I like In The Light the best) .. but that's what makes music meme's so great .. you learn lots of new songs! Of course, I liked all of your choices. The Who .. Great choice on the Baba song .. one of my favorites too, next to Eminence Front.
Well, I really meant up to and including Physical Graffiti. I'll change that in the post.
