Flickr Fun Saturday

I'm going to do something a bit different this week. I'm going to feature photos from just one Flickr user. That user is JoeCollver. I discovered his photos after seeing this little gem from the Oregon Coast. I was impressed enough with his work to make him a contact. So sit back and enjoy Joe's amazing photos.

I really enjoy this shot of the Washington Monument. Somehow Joe got most of it in the frame.

I don't know what Washington, D.C. building this is, but notice how Joe included a person walking on the steps and how that expresses the sheer size of the place.

Joe is good at finding the details that other people might not notice. For example, this statue near what I think is the Capitol Building.

I'm always a sucker for a good cemetery picture.

Another example of Joe's great eye for a photo - these bay windows in Philadelphia.

Sometimes you're talented, sometimes you just get lucky. I think this wonderful shot of a very upset young child is a combination of both things.

This one is pure geometric bliss.

Somehow Joe was lucky enough to photograph a pigeon looking out above Manhattan from the Empire State Building. Cool depth of field effect too!

In a city, there's art everywhere you look.

I don't know what the source of light is on the left side of this picture, but it looks heavenly considering this was taken inside the Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh. An outside view of the Cathedral can be found here.

Well isn't this pretty? It's a chandelier in Grand Central Station.

Times Square in NYC is a great place for a long exposure.

Joe got REALLY lucky with this zig-zagging shadow on stairs.

I really like this shot of roses and a statue in Boston Common. It shows that you can avoid taking the same pictures everyone else takes by looking for the small details others take for granted.

Lastly, you have to love this shot looking up a skyscraper in Denver. Joe's really good at getting unique angles. Much better than the standard "building from a distance" shot.

I hope you all enjoy Joe's photos as much as I have. If you're a Flickr member, go leave him some comments on the shots you like best.
