It's Monday again. Here's a mambo:

1. Name a musician/band or two connected with your state. They could be from your state, have a member born in your state, played a famous show in your state - you get the idea. If you're not from the U.S., pick a musician or band from your own country.

Sleater-Kinney has been based in Portland for at least a few years now. Of course they've broken up this year, but when they were together they called Portland home. I think Courtney Love lived in Portland too.

2. What's your favorite place to see a concert? Is it a small club, a large sports arena, a concert hall, an outdoor ampitheater? Tell us why you like to see music in that place.

I really like seeing music in the smaller venues. You get to see the musician a little more up-close and personal, and I think there's more of a connection between you and the music and the person making the music.

That said, two of my favorite venues in town are mid-sized. One is the McDonald Theater, simply because it's such a beautiful place inside. The other is The Shedd, because how often do you get to listen to secular music in a church? A former church in this case.

Frank Sinatra (New York, New York!)

And I LOVE small venues when I see someone perform. Must be my agoraphobia thing... :)

1. Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi (Both New Jersey Natives)

2. I perfer smaller venues, that only hold a few thousand. I don't like venues which are too small though because I feel there is less energy. I also perfer if the venue is general admission as well because I think that adds a greater vibe and sense of connection.
