It's New Horizons Day at the Monday Music Mambo:
1. Name one new band/artist (with a debut album released within the last three years) who you enjoy a lot.
Missy Higgins is a relatively new artist from Australia, and I love her piano-heavy pop hits. Her accent is just too cute! That helps a lot.
2. How do you discover new music?
Most of the time my friends will recommend things to me. Otherwise, I usually get curious by paying attention to the buzz on the internet and TV. Even so, there are many bands that I have no interest in checking out.
3. Name a band or artist who you'd love to experience for the first time back when they first made a name for themselves. In other words, what band would you time-travel to see perform?
Do you even have to guess? The Jimi Hendrix Experience, of course! I'm sure people watching Jimi for the first time were talking about him for weeks after seeing his show.
