Top Five On Friday - 10/12/07

Here's the Top Five:

Top 5 songs that give you the chills

1) "Grottan" by Hoven Droven. Any song that starts with a ghastly scream is bound to give you chills.

2) "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. You can hear the age, pain and experience in every syllable.

3) "The Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson. More for the video than the song. The video is creepy!

4) "You and I" by Jeff Buckley. This one is all about Jeff's voice. There is a minimal amount of instrumentation, and his voice is treated with a bit of echo effect to make it even creepier.

5) "Because" and "Get Back" from the Beatles Love album. These two songs give me a different kind of chill. First, the chill of the beauty of the Beatles' voices coming through your speakers, sans guitar, bass or drums. Second, the chill of excitement from the slow buildup to the start of "Get Back." There's this amazing layering of guitars, a drum solo, and other random bits and pieces from the Beatles' works. It all leads up to one of Paul's most rockin' tunes.

I'm going to have to give Love a turn in my computer again. I'm finally going to see Across The Universe tomorrow. I'm so excited.
