He won't get fooled again

I really enjoyed this interview with Roger Daltrey. He discusses everything from Pete Townshend to Jack Black to Barack Obama. He even has a little advice for Amy Winehouse.

VH1 is honoring The Who this week with a concert airing Thursday night. I'll try to catch it, and if I don't, perhaps they'll repeat it on VH1 Classic.

I've always thought it remarkable that Daltrey allowed Pete Townshend to sing on some of The Who's songs. Pete sings what seems like half of Tommy and co-leads on several songs from Who's Next. There are probably more examples from albums I haven't heard. Aside from playing harmonica, Roger's only role in The Who is to sing. A lead singer has to really put his ego aside to allow the guitarist/songwriter to sing lead on some of the band's songs. Roger Daltrey really is a 'team player.'

Gotta love The Who, absolutely. Daltry's singing on the "Lifehouse"/Who's Next sessions were truely staggering. Is also stated in many places that Pete was the vocal model for lots of Roger's vocals. Always great to see a band working together like that.
