Sunday Scribblings - 6/28/09

Toys

When I was a kid, I lived for toys. I mostly had action figures and things like that. We also had this mat with an entire town painted on it, which my brother and I would use to play with our little toy cars.

Going to Toys R Us back then was like going to Mecca. I would get so excited, and the car ride seemed to take forever until we pulled into the huge parking lot in front of the huge building. There was a hallway leading to the entrance to the rest of the building, and I would just be in heaven thinking about what awaited me once we went through the doors. Once inside, I'd go through the whole store looking at everything, taking my time to decide what I just had to have that day.

In retrospect, I think it's kind of ridiculous that I got that excited for toys. Of course, I get excited to buy music today, so maybe things haven't changed all that much.

The Toys R Us is still operating in the same building. I haven't been in there since I was literally still a child.

My parents wisely left us at home when they went toy shopping! Have to say though, I enjoy going through those stores as an adult.
