"We are the ones who wanna play, always wanna go but you never wanna stay. And we are the ones who wanna choose, always wanna play but you never wanna lose"
-System of a Down, "Aerials"
Isn't that cool? Great lyrics. Great band. Great lyrics from great bands make my day happy.
Not much up today. The Buckley CD is treating me good, although I will probably have to take a break from it eventually. Can't burn out on these things too soon after you buy them. On that track, I think I've found something to talk about - the different ways to listen to a CD.
One of the most popular ways, and the way I listen to them most often, is to use them as background music while you are doing something else. Sometimes it's low key listening while reading, or playing a computer game, or chatting. It can be energetic listening while doing chores (I often do this), stuff to pump you up and pass the time.
Another way is to listen very closely. I prefer to do this kind of listening, otherwise it's just noise and you get the feeling you're missing out on the experience. That's partly because of familiarity, and partly because of inattention. Anyway, when listening close, there are a couple ways to do it. First, you can try to listen to the lyrics. A lyric sheet helps a lot. You can also listen to all the nuances, the individual sounds and instruments. Sometimes a careful, close listening will reveal things you didn't notice before. Or, you can take the whole song in as a whole, and experience the combined effect of the lyrics and instruments (or just the instruments if there's no lyrics).
Well thanks for your time, maybe I'll post again later if I have something to say.
