Crawdaddy, the Magazine of Rock, has a very interesting article about the history of cover songs. It's an interesting look into the reasons why some songs work well as covers and what needs to happen to make a great cover. It's a refreshing change from the usual "cover songs suck and shouldn't be done" attitude. It's a good read and I think it's worth a click.
