Here's a weekly bit for you all:

its a blizzard. we've been snowed in this weekend here in jersey.
it's been delcared a state of emergency.
now I don't know about you, but I get a nervous feeling whenever a blizzard hits and
I know I wont be able to leave my house. I just don't like the thought of being 'trapped' almost. Let's call it, "Cabin Fever"

So, the bit for the week of jan23.2005 is to tell me how do you feel about being snowed in? Ever been snowed in? If not, how do you think you would feel?
What do you do to pass the time? Do you go to the grocery store before the big storm and buy tons of water?? Or do you just not really care. You have tap water at home, so whatever. Do you go on a cleaning frenzy like myself or do you just veg out in front of the tv?

Here in Western Oregon valley, we don't really get a lot of snow during our winters. If we do get any, it's usually not much. So when we got a fair amount of the white stuff last January, it was a big surprise. For about a week or maybe a bit longer, we were under a blanket of snow and of course everyone went crazy because of it. As for myself, it prevented me from doing some post-Christmas shopping so my reaction was NOT good! Aside from that, the snow didn't affect me all that much because I'm usually hanging out at home anyway. It was a bit colder than usual, but otherwise things were pretty normal for me.

A Bit About The New Year:
1. How did you spend this past New Years Eve?
I spent it at home, due to a sore foot. But all was good, I still got to talk to my friend Jess online and share the new year with her.

2. What is your New Years Resolution, if any?
I don't really have one. Resolutions put too much pressure on you and it's hard to keep them with that pressure.

3. Did you watch any New Years marathons on tv?
Nope, I mostly spent the night online.

Good news about my bro's girlfriend! She woke up for a little bit today. She can't yet talk, I don't think, but she can nod her head and things like that. I'm glad to see she's doing better!

Well, the holidays are here again, time flies!
This weeks bit is all about Holidays:

1. How do you celebrate this time of year? What traditions do you hold dear?
We do the usual Christmas celebration stuff. Every Christmas Eve we spend with my dad's side of the family, and Christmas day is for my mom's side. My personal tradition is not being able to sleep on Christmas Eve and waking up around 6 to wait for my parents to wake up. I'm a big kid at heart, people.

2. When do you do your gift shopping? Early or are you a last minute shopper?
This year I'm doing it early. I usually don't wait too long, and I usually don't have many people to shop for anyway.

3. What is the one present you would love this year?
The one I suppose I'm really looking forward to is the Extended Edition of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King on DVD. These movies are awesome!! I'm also looking forward to Alison Krauss and Union Station's new album "Lonely Runs Both Ways."

4. Have you ever believed in Santa?
I'm pretty sure I have.

5. Do the holidays depress you or make you happy?
They usually make me happy. Even with all the holiday-related stress, it's the one time of year I can always look forward to and depend on.

6. How do you decorate your home/apartment this time of year?
I don't decorate my room, but my mom will usually put up Christmas-related stuff around the house. Of course, the tree is the main decoration. It's always calming to have that lighted tree up every winter.

The Angry Bit

First off, congratulations to my brother and his girlfriend!!! Their daughter was born around 10 on Saturday night. She's healthy, her mommy is doing well, and all is good.

Second, it's time again for The Weekly Bit:

A Bit of a Reflection for the week of November7.2004

In everyday life, we tend to hold grudges and stay angry at people.
I know I do, as hard as I try not to, its just difficult to forgive and forget.

So for this week, write about your anger or resentment toward others.
Do you find it easy to forgive peoples faults?
Whats the one thing someone has done to you that you can simply never forgive?

I think there's a great difference between simply being annoyed with someone and their actions, and being angry and resentful with them. Personally, I do tend to get annoyed with things people do, especially little things. I do try to let myself win over my annoyances, but it doesn't always work. I don't think there's too many people who I have been very angry with over any extended period of time. I think it's important to not let anger get the best of you, because the situation is better for everyone if you talk it out, and try to keep things in perspective. If you just stay angry, you're only hurting yourself and you're not a very fun person to be around either. Of course, there are times when anger is justified, but sometimes you have to see the bigger picture. I wish I could always follow my own advice, but then I wouldn't have a chance to grow and change.

I won't go into detail, but one thing I don't think I can ever forgive is someone I love stealing money from me, more than once. Trust must be earned, and it's never good to the lose the trust of someone in your own family.

I do agree. Forgiveness does indeed force you to grow. It makes you see things from another person's point of view, and it makes you look beyond the things that are coming between you and the other person and see what's important. And what is important is caring for one another and working together to improve relationships and communication. Easier said than done, but vital for harmonious relationships and family bonds.

I think they're cute. Halloween is a fun night for kids.

A werewolf, cause it'll tear your ass up.

why?
That's a VERY hard decision. I suppose I'd be in the Addams Family because they're just a little bit weirder.

A Bit of Horror for the week of Oct24.
As Halloween nears, spooks are lurking all about, oh my gosh....picture these scenarios:
(be creative and play along!)

1. a crazy killer is in your basement, you can hear him dragging himself up the stairs wielding a very large...er...knife? bat? ...what do you do? (don't say 'call the cops', because of course you have no power or telephone since the psycho has cut the cords)

We don't have a basement, so he's probably in the house now! If we did have a basement, I'd probably try to lock him in there. If that can't be done, I'd run like hell!

2. your doorbell rings in the middle of the night, you answer the door half asleep only to realize you forgot to ask 'who is it?', and now you are face to face with _________________________________.

3. you are babysitting one stormy night and you hear some strange noises coming from the upstairs attic. both the kids you are babysitting are fast asleep, so you decide to investigate the odd noises you heard. when you walk up to the attic and open the door, what do you find?

I find the person I'm babysitting with, fooling around with her boyfriend when she's supposed to be helping me! She won't be getting paid, that's for sure.

This Week's Bit

The Weekly Bit for this week:

A Bit About Your Average Day for the week of Oct17
1. What is the first hour of your day like? What do you do when you wake up?
I usually wake up between ten and eleven in the morning. I wake up, pet my cat a bit, go to the bathroom, get my water bottle, and then sit down at the TV for an hour of the Ellen Degeneres show, which I try to watch every day.

2. What do you do during the course of the day? Are you always busy? Or are you able to take time out and 'smell the flowers' so to speak?
These days I have a lot of time to 'smell the flowers.' Every day, I usually take some time to read, watch a little TV, listen to music and chat online to my friends. That's what I normally do each day, and I do enjoy it.

3. What is your evening like? Do you go to bed early? Late? How do you relax?
My evening is very carefree and relaxing. I'm usually talking to my online pals and listening to whatever music I decide to put on. Sometimes I'll read before bed too. I'm not one to go to bed very early, and I usually hit the sack between midnight and 2 AM.

This week's Weekly Bit is about all things scary and Halloween-ish.

1. Do you believe in ghosts, spirits, the supernatural? Have you ever had a supernatural experience?
I'm not quite sure if I totally believe in ghosts, but I have a couple friends who certainly do. They've experienced ghosts, and I really don't think they're nuts, so I think ghosts probably do exist. I've never had a supernatural experience myself, and I'm not sure I'd want to quite yet!

2. What is your favorite scary film? book?
Well, I'm not a huge fan of scary films. I'd say my favorite is "Young Frankenstein" because it's scary AND funny. Another movie that isn't necessarily scary, but is sort of related, is the urban vampire movie "Blade."

My favorite scary book is, and always will be, "Dracula" by Bram Stoker. I've read it twice, and it still scares me in many parts.

3. Do you still dress up for Halloween? What is your fav costume?
I don't dress up anymore. Maybe if I was going to a Halloween party I would, but otherwise no. My favorite costume that I wore when I did dress up would have to be the hockey player costume. I wore a hockey jersey, carried a hockey stick, wore a bike helmet as a hockey helmet, and with makeup gave myself a black eye and all that good gory stuff. That was definitely a fun costume, even if I was wearing a bike helmet!

A Bit of Random Questions for the week of Oct 3...enjoy!

1. What is your favorite thing about fall? Is it the weather? Halloween?
Wow, there are so many things I love about fall. Firstly, the beautiful colors of the leaves on trees. The cooling, crisp air that is not yet too cold to stand. The college football season and the start of hockey season. And, in years past, the beginning of the school year, especially in college.

2. Do you have any pets?
Oh boy do I! I have three cats: Harley is a gray longhair male, LOVES to meow, and was born in 1998. Iggy was also born in 1998, and he's a shorthaired kitty. He's mostly white on the bottom, with black and brown stripes on his back, legs, and part of his head. His tail is bent at the end, and I think he was just born that way. He's shy and not real keen on being petted, but he's a sweet cat nonetheless.

Midnight is a female, probably born around 1991. She's black with blonde spots all over. She's very shy, not very friendly with humans she doesn't trust, and she loves to sleep on my pillow . . while I'm sleeping on it!

We also have one dog, who was born last year on my birthday, April 23rd! She's a black Shar-Pei/German Shepherd mix. She's a very sweet, friendly dog but she likes to bark at anyone she doesn't know, or any noise that even remotely sounds like someone knocking at the door. She loves to sleep underneath beds.

3. What is your favorite comfort food? Chicken soup, chocolate cake...etc...
I have many comfort foods. Hawaiian or pepperoni pizza from my favorite pizza place is probably number one on that list. As for home cooking, I always get a kick out of my dad's BBQ chicken breasts or BBQ steak, and my mom's mint brownies.

4. Do you work? Full time? Part time? Do you like what you do or are you looking for something else?
Right now I do not work, but I'm looking for work. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do yet, but I do know I want it to be something I will enjoy doing every day.

5. What is your favorite hobby?
Listening to music and reading are my favorite hobbies. There's no question about that.

6. Who is your favorite author? What is your favorite book?
I don't really have a "favorite" author, but I do have a lot of books by John Grisham, Michael Crichton, and James Patterson. I'd also put J.R.R. Tolkien in that category. My favorite books include the Lord of the Rings books, "Gretzky: An Autobiography" by Wayne Gretzky and Rick Reilly, and "New York: An Illustrated History." I'm also fond of "Dracula" by Bram Stoker and "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte.

7. Recommend a good movie.
I just saw it for the first time today, so I'll recommend "This Is Spinal Tap." It's hilarious!

8. Do you consider yourself a wild child or are you calm and collected?
I am most definitely a very calm and collected person. I'm maybe a little "wilder," if you'd call it that, when I'm by myself. I'm mostly calm and collected, though.

9. What is your greatest accomplishment?
I consider my greatest accomplishment to be graduating from college. I graduated just a little over four years, and that is actually a huge accomplishment in these days of high tuition and full classes.

I have never smoked a cigarette or drank alcohol, and I don't plan to start anytime soon!

Weekly Bit Of Love

Meme time again. Weekly Bit. Here we go:

A Bit About 'First Times & First Loves'...for the week of September 26.2004
1. Describe your first kiss.
I think it was in first grade, with a girl I liked. We were walking with our class to the cafeteria or something, and she kissed me on the cheek.

2. Who was your first boyfriend/girlfriend?
The same girl above. I had asked her to be my "girlfriend" but I don't think we really understood what it was all about. It was a silly little childhood thing, but I guess I'd consider her my first girlfriend.

3. When was your heart first broken?
I had it broken pretty bad in 2001. I "fell in love" with a gal I talked to on the internet. I asked her if she'd be my "internet girlfriend," and the next day she came on, she told me she lied to me about being single and that I shouldn't talk to her again. That hurt, but it was a lesson I had to learn.

4. When was the first time you fell in love?
The first time I've really fallen in love was just a month after the above incident happened. I fell in love, again on the internet, with someone who is now one of my best friends. I'm still in love with her, and I think I always will be.

5. What was your first real date like?
I don't think I've ever really had a "date," but I have gone out to lunch with a female friend a few times. I guess I'd consider that a date. As for what it was like, it was nice. I hadn't seen her in a while, so it was nice to catch up and see her again.

Well, I think what Judy is expressing is that love hits us deep in ourselves. Not just physically, but emotionally and even chemically. When you're in love with someone, or someone gives you love, it affects you inside and out and changes your mood. Also, it's not something you can easily describe or express. You can just feel it, and it's the greatest feeling in the world.

1. How long have you been online? Not today, but in total, how long have you had your computer?
I've been using the internet since about 1998. I started using it at the public library once in a while; then at school, and then finally at home and at college.

2. Do you have many online friends? Have you ever met any in person or spoken to them over the phone?
I have a decent number of online friends, some closer than others. I've never met any of them in person, but I've talked on the phone with a few.

3. What are your favorite things to do while online?
I like to chat to my online buddies, check the news and look at my favorite websites and see if anything is new. I also like to check blogs and (obviously) blog myself.

4. List your favorite websites.
A lot of my favorite sites are on my links to the left, but I'll list some that I go to a lot:

Do you have any websites?
I know some basic HTML but not much; just enough to get this blog looking like I want it to. I do have a website on Geocities, but I rarely update it anymore. These days I just use my blog as a webpage.

6. What do you hate about the internet? What annoys you most about it?
I hate getting booted off AOL, that's for sure!! I also get annoyed with people online who feel the need to make personal attacks and hurl insults to just about everyone. Other things that annoy me are people who intentionally use bad grammar (i.e. OmG thAtz SOOOOO KeWlz!!!!!!!!), sites that don't load or load slowly, sites that are never updated (guess I'm guilty there, oops!) and, of course, hackers and people who make viruses!! And, everyone's annoyance, SPAM!!!

The Bit for the Week of Sept 12 is About Work.
1. What is your dream job?
My dream job is to tour around with the Afro Celts and help them out in whatever way they need my help. Especially promotions and press and getting the word out.

2. What are the best and worst jobs you've ever had?
I've never really had many jobs, I've just been in school until now.

3. How do you feel about dating someone from work? Have you ever?
I can understand how it might be a bad thing, but if the love is there I say go for it.

4. What job would you never want to do?
Anything to do with sewage or garbage. Or anything where you can potentially get seriously hurt or killed.
