I'm working on a new album review. Woohoo!! I don't know if it's one you all have listened to, but if you haven't, you should! You'll find out what the album is and who recorded it when I post the review.
There's not much going on here. I'm just enjoying life after college, pre-job. I follow MY agenda for now, and it feels great!!
This or That time!!
1) DVD or VHS? DVD for shizzle!!!
2) Best Literary/Movie Villan: Voldemort (Harry Potter) or Sauron (LoTR)? In my mind, the best literary villian ever is the very very evil Count Dracula.
3) Meat: rare or well-done? Medium-Medium Well.
4) High Speed Internet-Cable or DSL? DSL. Don't have to share the same lines.
5) Women: 1-piece bathing suit or Bikini? N/a, but bikinis rock! lol
6) To be fair--Men: Boxers or briefs? I wear briefs.
7) Beer or Liquor/Wine? Neither.
8) Coke or Mountain Dew? Coke!
9) In honor of my 10/18/03 nuptials: Morning or Afternoon/Night Wedding? Afternoon!! Who likes getting up early?
10) Carpet or Hardwood Floors Hardwood.
11) American cars or foreign? Doesn't matter too much.
12) Cutest TV Twin: Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen? They're twins, one can't be cuter than the other.
13) Coffee: Caffeinated or Decaf? Coffee = yuck.
14) Thought-Provoking Question of the Week: Computers: Do they make life better or worse? Why? I think they make life better. You can talk to people from around the world with the click of a button. And you can look up stuff without going to the library. And you can check sports scores or movie times, or the weather, or just about anything else you need to know!!

Well, yes I did change my mind about the Robby songs on "Dizzy Up The Girl"! Although they sound completely different from John's songs, they are also very catchy and easy to sing along to!! I've found some of them stuck in my head lately, so Robby is definitely getting to me!
Oh, you want me to do a this or that for your reading pleasure? Well, this is your lucky day!!
1. Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck? Since this IS the pond, although I'm a big fan of Bugs, I'm going to choose Daffy.
2. Tom or Jerry? The human lady who always hit Tom on the head with the frying pan, she was cool.
3. Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck? Again, the ducks win out.
4. Rocky & Bullwinkle or Boris & Natasha? Rocky and Bullwinkle.
5. Road Runner or Wile E. Coyote? Road Runner!!
6. Sylvester or Tweety? Tweety, he's just so damn cute.
7. Popeye or Bluto? Popeye. And is that REALLY spinach in that can?
8. South Park or The Simpsons? The Simpsons!!! Always and forever.
9. Jetsons or Flintstones? Flintstones.
10. And finally, the eternal question asked by all good Scooby-Doo fans: Velma or Daphne? I'll say . . . Daphne!!

Not much going on really. Next week is my last week of my summer class, and there is a lot of work to be done in that last week. But it shall all be over soon. The thing that really sucks is that after the class is over, my bus pass privileges with my student ID end. Ahhhh well. The good thing is that on the last day of class, after it's all over, I am buying myself a new CD!!!
Speaking of buying things, I had some time before the bus came to take me back home today so I went to the campus record store to browse around. And I found it!!! I found the DVD of Wayne's World, and on sale at that!! I have been looking for Wayne's World on DVD for quite a while now (well, a few months anyway lol) and haven't found it at all in any stores. And now I have and that makes me happy. I've always loved Wayne's World. I grew up quoting that movie with my friends, and even today I notice little things from that movie being used in everyday popular speech. I've tried to think about why Wayne's World is so popular, why its influence still lingers, and why it succeeded where other SNL-based movies failed. I think it's because the movie is so honest and doesn't seem forced. The characters are in their own world, one that the movie viewer slowly gets drawn into. I mean, who wouldn't want to go hang with Wayne and Garth on a Saturday night? We all know that group of friends with their own vocabulary and rituals. We've all sung to songs while driving in cars. Also, from watching it again tonight, I can see that Mike Meyers and Dana Carvey definitely had an on-screen dynamic. Some things seem to be totally improvised, and that's honest and that's why we like Wayne's World. In my opinion, of course.
Here's your weekly This or That!!
1. Strawberries or blueberries? Strawberries!!
2. "Legally Blonde 2" or "Terminator 3"? Terminator 3!! Or, even better, Matrix Reloaded again.
3. Hamburgers or hot dogs? Hard choice, but I love the tube steaks!!
4. Boating or hiking? Boating.
5. Suntan lotion or sunblock? What's the difference?
6. "Big Brother" or "The Amazing Race"? The Amazing Race.
7. Beach Boys or Jimmy Buffett? Oooooh hard choice. Beach boys, I guess.
8. Grow your own produce or buy from supermarket/greengrocer/farm stand? I'd buy.
9. Drive with car windows/top down, or with air-conditioning on? Windows down!! Much more fun.
10. Go away for vacation, or stay at home? Go away. Home gets boring sometimes.

There I go again, not posting anything for a week!
Happy 4th of July to all my American friends out there!! What a great country, where one can make their own blog and say whatever the FUCK they want!! Unfortunately, I don't have much to say today!! But at least I'm posting something.
I've been posting a bit at my poetry blog so you should all go read some of my stuff. If I'm not posting much in here, go check over there and see if there's anything new in the poetry pond.
I bought the DVD of Gangs of New York yesterday. The special features look good, lots of little documentaries about the movie and the time period. I've been listening to the Martin Scorcese audio commentary, and he tends to ramble sometimes but most of the time he has really interesting stories or bits of information. It's also neat to hear the story about what Scorcese went through to get the movie made and what actors he was thinking of for the parts, and how he got the actors he did for the final movie. I love New York and its history, I love immigrant history, Irish and Irish-American history, I love compelling characters and stories with context, and I love folk music. So this movie has a lot for me to love!! That's why I couldn't wait to get it on DVD.
Well, that's all I have to say today except for a This or That. Anyone got any questions? Anything you want me to talk about? Should I get off my butt and do another album review? Any and all feedback would be just awesome. Now, here's the This or That:
1. Lemonade or Ice Cold Beer? Lemonadddddeeee.......that cool refreshing drink (for all you 80's Eddie Murphy fans).
2. Swimming pool or beach? Swimming pool.
3. Long weekends here & there, or a 2-week vacation? Long weekends here and there, with a 2-week vacation every few years for fun.
4. Destination: Acapulco or Hawaii? Hawaii!!! Maui especially, I love that place.
5. Destination: Mountains or Beach? Awww I can't choose!! But there's always been a spot in my heart for the Oregon Coast.
6. Hotel/motel/B&B or camping? Camping can be fun, but obviously if you're in the city a nice hotel or motel hits the spot.
7. Carefully planned vacation, or play it by ear? I think I prefer the planned ones - at least the destination and all that. As far as activities, just play it by ear sometimes.
8. Sneakers or sandals? Sneakers for me.
9. Air-conditioning or fans? Air conditioning!!
10. Concerts in the park or baseball games? Concerts in the park!!

Why hasn't Duck posted anything lately??
Sorry folks, guess I just haven't had much to blog about lately. The only real news with me lately is that I'm one week into my summer school class. It's called Communication Democracy, and it's sort of interesting so far. Sometimes it gets a bit complicated, but oh well. Other news...hmmm...well I miss my friend Jessica, and I bought some DVD's last night - Young Frankenstein, 8 Mile and Rumble in the Bronx. I wonder why the stores just HAVE to sell 8 Mile for $20, even the "discount" stores. Ahh well.
And now, rather late, a This or That:
1. Surf sites at random, or have a set list of regular reads? Sometimes I'll just look at regular sites, other times I'll surf around a bit.
2. Do you visit mostly blogs, or news or other sites? I visit all kinds of sites.
3. Do you go online every day, or just a couple of days a week? Every day!
4. Do you allow comments on your blog, or not? Yes, in fact I encourage comments to be made.
5. Do you shop online at all, or at regular stores? If I get anything online, I gotta have my mom pay for it. She's got the credit card.
6. Have you ever done online bill-paying/banking, or not? Nope.
7. Which news site do you prefer... MSNBC.com or CNN.com? Or do you prefer some other one? I prefer newspapers, and if I read any online stuff, it's usually whatever's on Yahoo! news.
8. Live chat rooms, or message boards? Both are good.
9. Instant messaging or e-mail? Instant messaging for sure!! So much easier.
10. Yes or no: have you ever met, or at least talked on the phone with, another blogger? If not, would you want to? Why or why not? Yeah, I've talked briefly on the phone to one person.

I've gone to three movies in the past three days, and there will be more moviegoing to come. I'm taking advantage of my free time!! Yesterday I only saw HALF a movie though, because the machinery broke down in the middle of the movie!! (I was watching Bruce Almighty). Well wasn't THAT fun!! But they gave us refunds and all that good stuff.
Ok, here are some This or That's:
1. "The Munsters" or "The Addams Family"? Wow . . . I guess the Munsters.
2. "The Sopranos" or the "Godfather" movies? The Sopranos.
3. "The Jetsons" or "Lost in Space"? The Jetsons.
4. "Superman" or "Batman" (either the TV shows or the movies)? Batman.
5. "Sex & The City" or "Friends"? Sex & the City!!
6. "The Wizard of Oz" or the "Harry Potter" movies? Until I've seen Harry Potter, my answer is the Wizard of Oz.
7. "The Simpsons" or "King of the Hill"? The Simpsons!! Always!!
8. "Grease" or "Saturday Night Fever"? Saturday Night Fever.
9. Old prime-time soaps: "Dallas" or "Dynasty"? I haven't seen either one, but I guess Dallas so you can watch reruns and find out who shot J.R. again and again.
10. Not very thought-provoking this week...do you prefer TV shows or movies? Usually TV shows. They're shorter, after all. But movies are cool too.
----------------------------------------
1. Newspapers or magazines? Ohhhhh I cannot decide!! I refuse to decide!!
2. Books-on-tape or regular books? Regular books.
3. Paperback or hardcover? Hardcover, I like my books to last. But paperback if you're taking it somewhere.
4. Fiction or non-fiction? Both are good, but I read mostly nonfiction.
5. Sci-Fi/Fantasy or romance novels? Sci-Fi/Fantasy for me.
6. Borrow from library or buy books (either new or used)? Buy!! But borrowing is always good too.
7. Subscribe to magazines or buy on newsstand? Depends on why you're reading the magazine. I only subscribe to one magazine, and read my family's Sports Illustrateds.
8. Current best-sellers or classic literature? Classic lit for me!!
9. Read books once, or re-read favorites every so often? I'd re-read if I had the time. So far I tend to read them once, but I'm sure I'll get around to re-reading some of them sometime in my life.
10. Here in the U.S., we have two hot best-sellers...former First Lady Hillary Clinton's memoirs, and the new Harry Potter book (coming out June 21). If you had to read one, which one...Hillary or Harry? Why? I'd read Harry if I had read the other HP books first. Until then, I'd read Hillary's book. Right now, I'm reading the biography of Tim and Jeff Buckley and I'll probably get around to the last LOtR sometime soon as well. And my next book purchase will be the biography of Kurt Cobain. Gee, do I like reading books about dead rock stars or WHAT?

Since I've been lazy lately....TWO this or that's for the price of one!!
1. Cats or dogs? Cats!!!
2. Butterflies or birds? Butterflies (they remind me of someone special)
3. Horses or cows? Cows for eating, that's for sure!!
4. Turtles or snakes? Turtles.
5. Frogs or grasshoppers? Frogs.
6. Lions or tigers? Ummmm.....Lions.
7. Elephants or mice? Elephants.
8. Porcupines or aardvarks? Aardvarks I guess. I don't want nothing poking ME!
9. Unicorns or dragons? Dragons!!! Instant barbeque.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You live in a rather dumpy apartment. A friend offers you a chance to be a roommate at a new place s/he is moving into, but they don't allow pets. You have a pet. Do you find your pet a new home and take the new place, or do you keep your pet and stay put? I'd probably keep the pet. But if you're living in apartments, why do you have a pet anyway?
---------------------------------------------------------------
1. Do you prefer silence or do you like background sound (music, TV, etc)? Usually I prefer background noise, but sometimes silence is good.
2. Bathe/shower in morning or evening? Usually in the evening.
3. Sleeping in complete darkness, or with a nightlight on? Darkness.
4. Lay out clothes the night before, or just grab what's closest in the morning? Grab what's in the closet in the morning.
5. Hang up/fold clothes neatly, or just toss them wherever? I try to fold them as neat as I can lol. Usually.
6. Work out at a gym, or at home on your own (or do you not bother with exercise)? Walking to and from class - THAT is my exercise lol.
7. Talk on the phone, or via IM/e-mail? IM/e-mail.
8. Are you usually on time, or late? I'm usually right on time.
9. Spendthrift or frugal? Depends on my mood. Usually I'm frugal, but if I'm spending I tend to feel guilty about it.
10. Thought-Provoking Question of the Week: You work with someone who is not in the habit of bathing regularly. The smell seems to be getting worse and worse! Would you: 1. try to do something about it, or 2. try to grin and bear it? If you said 1, what would you do? I'd probably just keep quiet about it. I'm not very confrontational.

This or That time!!!
1. Large or small family? Small immediate, large extended.
2. Potato chips or pretzels? Honey Dijon Kettle chips *drools*
3. House or apartment? House, I guess.

7. Right or left-handed? Right!!
8. Model trains or dolls/stuffed animals? Model trains.
9. Comedy or drama? Comedies!!
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: The city of Boston has recently banned smoking in all restaurants and bars. Would you want to see such a law passed in your city/town/country, or not? They DID pass a law like that here. Doesn't really matter to me since I don't go to bars. And of course it's nice to be in restaurants without all that smoke.

Welcome to the Jungle
Wednesday morning generally sucked. We had a fire alarm at 1 AM (I was not asleep then) and ANOTHER at 7 AM, when I WAS asleep!! Very annoying, and I sure hope no one pulled both alarms!! It's always a pain in the tush to have to go outside and wait for who knows how long while they find out what's up. In addition to all that, our wing mysteriously has a LOT of......something...soaking the carpet in the hallway. And there's an odd odor in the hall now. Strange times indeed, and I'm going to LOVE moving back home!!
And now for your reading pleasure: a This or That!!
1. Packrat or minimalist? Oh I'm a packrat for sure!!
2. Computer: desktop or laptop? I use a desktop.
3. Seashore or mountains? Ummm...seashore.
4. Carpeting or bare floors? Both have their downsides. I guess bare floors, less upkeep.
5. Drinking water: bottled or tap? I drink filtered tapwater.
6. Shopping websites: eBay or Amazon? Amazon.
7. Cute little kitties or big scary tigers? Cute little kitties, of course!!
8. Front door or back door? Front doors are more inviting. It's weird though, we've always entered my grandparents' houses through their backdoors. Except my grandparents NEW house!!
9. Lots of jewelry, or little/none? I'm not much for the blingin' myself, but on other people it's good. But not TOO much!
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: At the last minute, you obtain tickets to an event you're dying to attend. However, you have to work that day! Do you ask the boss for the time off, or just call in sick? If you've got sick days left, just call in sick. Otherwise, beg the boss lol.

Time for a This or That!!
1. TV or radio? TV.
2. On the radio: talk or music station? Music! of course.
3. Actual books or books-on-tape (or e-books)? Actual books.
4. Actual newspaper, or web version? Actual newspaper.
5. Wall Street Journal or National Enquirer? Wall Street Journal. It's really not as bad as you'd think.
6. TV news...news channel such as CNN, or your local broadcast news? Both, you get two different perspectives.
7. A movie you've been looking forward to seeing gets bad reviews all around. See it anyway, or pass? See it anyway. The only opinion that really matters is YOURS.
8. See movies when they first come out, or wait a few weeks for the lines at the theater to get shorter? Wait a few weeks, unless it's not a really popular movie.
9. TV: cable, satellite dish, or just plain old antenna? Cable.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: If you had to choose only one form of media to come into your home, which would you choose...print (newspapers, magazines) or electronic (TV, internet)? Why? Probably internet because you can get many different media in one convenient place. Of course that means no watching TV programs, but oh well.

Finally!! I shall now post the "this or that" for this week. Also, later on this evening I shall watch "Queen of the Damned" on my brand new DVD player.
1. Yummier: Chocolate ice cream or strawberry cheesecake? Chocolate ice cream for me.
2. Better to watch on TV: Movies or sports? Sports. Movies are better in the theater.
3. A better web browser: MSIE or Netscape (or tell us your own favorite!) IE is simpler, but right now Netscape WORKS for me, so I'll go with Netscape.
4. A better way to travel: Automobile or bus/train? Automobile.
5. Your preferred camera: Digital or film? I've not really used digital, so film for me.
6. A Cooler Vehicle: Motorcycle or sports car? Sports car.
7. More fun: Video games or board games? Video games.
8. Sexier: A perfect body or an intelligent mind? I won't lie. Bodies are what I find sexy. Minds are sexy too, but bodies get your attention faster.
9. A stinkier smell: Skunk or gasoline (petrol)? Skunk.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: What is more important to you: making a ton of money and being at the top of your field, or finding your soulmate and living a comfortable but not wealthy life? As long as I'm not dirt poor, I'd say finding my soulmate and living a comfortable life.

Well folks I'm doing MUCH better!! Yay!! My voice is pretty much back, maybe not 100% but most of the way there. Getting sick sucks, but I guess it happens to everyone once in a while.
Yeah, yeah, I didn't do an album review yet. I suck sometimes. Well I'll do one as soon as I can find the time and motivation. Mostly the motivation though, lol. And it's time once again for a This or That!!
Who is:
1. Sexier (female)...Pamela Anderson or Jennifer Garner? Jennifer!! She's.....normal!!
2. Sexier (male)...Ben Affleck or Matt Damon? *blushes* Matt......gotta love those lips.
3. The better piano player...Billy Joel or Elton John? I'm gonna go with Elton.
4. Funnier...David Letterman or Craig Kilborn? I don't find either of them particularly "funny" but I think Craig is a bit funnier.
5. The dumber cartoon cat...Stimpy (of *Ren & Stimpy*) or Tom (of *Tom & Jerry*)? Stimpy.
6. A better news anchor...Tom Brokaw or Dan Rather? Errmmmmm......Tom I guess.
7. A better TV chef...Emeril Lagasse or Jacques Pepin? I'm choosing Jacques simply because he pronounces "sheet" as "shit"
8. The trashier talk show host...Maury Povich or Jerry Springer? Jerry!! Jerry!! Jerry!!
9. The worse fast food burger joint...McDonald's or Burger King? McDonald's!!! I can hardly stand their food anymore.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: Only a handful of U.S. Presidents have been considered to be *great* Of the following two, which one do you consider to be greater...Franklin D. Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln? Why? Ohhhhh my. This is a HARD question, but I'm choosing Roosevelt because he led the U.S. through the Great Depression AND World War II. Abe just had the Civil War and emancepation of blacks. So that's two major challenges for Franklin and basically one for Abe, if you put the emancipation in with the Civil War. But the fact is that they were both DAMN good presidents!!!

Sorry, folks, that I haven't been on much. School has started again, and on top of THAT, I've been wicked sick. Wicked bad cough, and laryngitis to boot!! So yeah that sucks. Anyway, that's most of the reason why I haven't been blogging lately.
I've added a section to the left side of my blog (which I'm sure most of you have noticed by now) where I post links to where I've reviewed CD's. I'll post new reviews when I get around to it, and for your benefit I'll try my hardest to keep it to CD's people might have actually heard of. Afro Celts "Seed" and Jeff Buckley are there now, and I'll probably add one or two more sometime in the next week, I hope.
I'll do two this or that's this week. First an April Fool's edition with WEIRD questions, followed by the REAL version.
1. The Bogey-man or Henry Kissinger? The Bogey-man
2. Whips 'n chains or soft ropes with furbound cuffs? Soft ropes and furbound cuffs!!
3. Fish sticks or Amazon.com? Amazon.com of course.
4. Whitewall tires or color TV? Color TV!!
5. Leather or lace? Leather!!
6. Abraham Lincoln or leftover turkey? I'll take the turkey lol.
7. Movable Type or Star Trek? Ummmm how 'bout Star Wars?
8. Happy Happy Joy Joy or Bounce Bounce Bounce like Tigger? Happy Happy Joy Joy!!
9. The Michelin Man or the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man? Stay-Puft!!! MMMMMM marshmallow.
10. Thought-Provoking Question of the Week: If you HAD to marry one of the talking M&M's in the TV commercials, would it be the red one or the yellow one? Why? I'll marry the green one!!! You *know* what they say about the green ones, lol!!
----------------------------------
and now for the REAL questions!!!
This-or-That: Classic Games Edition
1. Tag or hide & go seek? Hide and go seek!! Loved that game as a kid.
2. Hopscotch or wiffle-ball? Wiffe ball!! loved THAT too lol.
3. Chutes & Ladders or Candyland? Candyland.
4. Chess or checkers? Checkers.
5. Parcheesi or backgammon? Ummmmm....
6. Twister or Yahtzee? Twister!!
7. Trivial Pursuit or Scrabble? Trivial Pursuit.
8. Monopoly or The Game of Life? Monopoly!!!
9. Go Fish or Gin Rummy? Go fish.
10. Thought-Provoking Question of the Week: You have a young child (or just babysit one), who is about 6-7 years old, and you like to play various games with him/her. Do you: let the child win sometimes to help improve his/her self-esteem, or play normally, in order to teach the child that we can't always win in life? It's not whether you win or lose, it's how much fun you're having.

This or That time!!!
1. Poetry or prose? Poetry, but prose has its own moments.
2. Funky modern art or the older, "classic" variety? Both can be good!!
3. Sculptures or paintings? Paintings.
4. Theatre: exuberant musical or serious drama? Musicals baby!!!
5. Ballet or modern dance? Modern Dance.
6. Movies: major studio or indie? Both.
7. Authors: Shakespeare or Dr. Seuss? Shakespeare!!!
8. TV: PBS or A&E? A&E.

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You are a contributing member of your favorite art museum, and visit on a regular basis. They announce a new, temporary special exhibit by an artist surrounded by controversy...this person's work and/or political views offend you. Do you stop supporting the museum, or just stay away during the time the exhibit is there? Well, I would probably go anyway, to gain a new experience and maybe, just maybe, have my mind changed or my perspective widened.

Time for a This or That!!
1. Cold frosty ski slopes or warm sandy beach? Warm sandy beach!! Ha, and I'm a Norwegian, you would THINK I'd pick the slopes!
2. Chevy or Ford? Chevy.
3. Mac or PC? PC for sure.
4. Dial-up or high speed internet access? High Speed.
5. Small *family-only* wedding or large 200+ guest wedding? If I marry the woman I want to, a family only wedding would BE 200+ people!!!
6. Would you rather be the bridesmaid or the bride? (if you are a guy, substitute best man or groom) Groom, but only ONCE!! If I get married, I wanna get married to a LIFE partner.
7. AC/DC or ABBA? AC/DC!!!
8. Roses or daisies? Roses.
9. Trashy romance novels or classic literature? Trashy classic romance literature. Seriously, some of the most classic books ARE trashy romance novels.
10. NEW! Thought-provoking question of the week...If you had to choose one...would you rather be blind or deaf? Why? Well, I'd rather be deaf. The complexity of the visual sense is SO much more rewarding than hearing. Seeing is more important to me. Hmmmm although being deaf means no music!! Grrrr. Well, ok, I'd rather have sight!! I want to see stuff MUCH more than hear it.
---------------------------------------
Countdown to Afro Celts: 6 days!!! (well, 5 as of Thursday). This rocks!! And in other news, Thursday is my last day here before Spring Break. I go home tonight, yay!!

This or That time!!!
