Mambo Number Five! Ok, not number five, but does anyone remember that song? Can we say one-hit wonder?
Monday Music Mambo
Since yesterday was Father's Day, this week let's dance to the tune of fatherhood.
01. Do you know any of your father's favorite music genre or favorite song?
My father's favorite kind of music is classic rock, and it's seeping down to me now. All those hours of driving around listening to it have had an effect on my listening habits. I think his favorite artist is Stevie Ray Vaughan, and I think partly because of that I'm getting into Stevie Ray myself. He's also been getting into country music in the past few years.
02. Would you go to a concert with your father? If so, what concert do you think you might attend that you both would enjoy?
I have gone to a concert with my dad. We went to the Nickel Creek concert last April and had a good time there. Later on this year Robert Plant is coming here to Eugene, and I'd love to go to that with him if tickets weren't so expensive!
03. Many musicians have followed in their musician father's footsteps -- can you name any? Does your music collection include material by a musical dad and their talented child or children?
Tim and Jeff Buckley. Bob and Jakob Dylan. John Lennon and his sons Julian and Sean (or is it just one of them? I keep forgetting). Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne. Johnny and Roseanne Cash. Waylon and Shooter Jennings. Jack and the late Jo Bruce. Elvis Costello's father is a musician too. That's all I can think of at the moment. As for owning father-and-son music, I do own albums by both Jeff and Tim Buckley.
04. Whom would you say is the most famous dad in the music industry, whether they were entertainers or not.
I think the most famous dad in the music industry is Elvis Presley. His daughter is now a musician too, and all anyone can talk about is how she's Elvis' daughter.

Bought my dad the Elvis gospel album and a copy of Herman's Hermits for Fathers' Day.
