I've posted a few mini-reviews by now, and I'm curious as to how my readers are enjoying them. Do you guys like them? Am I doing a good job? Did any of my reviews make you want to buy the album? Leave a comment and let me know!
Mondays are for Mamboing!
Monday Morning Greetings Mambo'ers. We're all very excited here at BDI? Why? Because today we celebrate Wiener Day! Hot Dawg! Today we honor the day the first Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was introduced to the American public in 1936. Yep, that's right, 69 years ago. Hmmm, weiners ... 69 ... there's a raunchy joke in there somewhere but we're going to leave that one alone. Instead, this day we show our honor with a 21 bun salute. *insert Popeye-like laugh here*
Alrightee then ... ready? Let's Mambo, shall we?
01. What artist(s) or group(s) do you think could cut an excellent revved up version of the Oscar Mayer Weiner Jingle?
Oh I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener.
That is what I'd truly like to be.
'Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener,
Ev'ryone would be in love with me.
Among the artists I'd like to see sing the Oscar Mayer Jingle: Van Morrison, Bob Seger, Elton John, Enya, Bono.
02. You are the producer of BDI's Fantasy Woodstock 2005. Create your ideal line-up of at least a half dozen or more artists or groups, living or dead. If you have a particular song(s) you would ask them to perform, list that as well.
Ok this is going to be a good one. I think I'll create a two-day festival of six artists per day.
Day one: Los Lonely Boys start things off. The first song they'd do is "I Walk The Line." "Heaven" would make an appearance of course, and they'd end with "Velvet Sky".
Neil Finn would go up next, and he'd play a lot of his hit songs from his solo career and Crowded House. At the end of his set, his brother Tim would join him for a couple songs.
Deni Bonet would go next and play songs off her albums, especially new songs from her upcoming CD!
The Smashing Pumpkins would perform after that. In my fantasy Woodstock, they've reunited and are playing the same great music they are known for. Their last song would be "Tonight, Tonight" and they'd even get a symphony orchestra to help them out.
After the Pumpkins, Jeff Buckley (who is still alive in my fantasy world) does a half-solo/half-band set. He'd start with "Last Goodbye" and end with "Hallelujah." He might even play a few blues covers or Dylan songs too!
The headliner of the evening is the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Jimi would play all his hit songs and maybe a few blues covers. He'd get the crowd pumped up good, and then as the band is starting to play "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" you hear a guitar and Jimi is NOT playing. Out comes . . . Stevie Ray Vaughan! Jimi and Stevie play together for another 45 minutes or so and give the crowd a great treat to end the night.
Day two: Lunasa starts the second day with their amazingly complex Celtic sounds.
The celtic flavor continues as Natalie MacMaster comes on next. She gives the crowd an awesome performance with her supreme fiddling skills. She ends her set with a long medly of reels that just get faster and faster and faster.
Alison Krauss and Union Station slow things down a little with their bluegrass songs. Alison brings out special guest Gillian Welch for her last song, "I'll Fly Away."
The crowd has had enough acoustic stuff, they want to rock out now! That's where Aerosmith comes in. They play many of their hits, with an emphasis on the harder rocking songs. Their last song is a sublime version of "Dream On" with a really long, amazing solo by Joe Perry.
Next is BeauSoleil. They get the crowd really pumped up and dancing. Their first song is a kickin' version of "Bayou Cadillac" and their last song is an exhausting, breathtaking "Me and Dennis McGee" that gets everyone up on their feet.
The crowd needs a break before the headliner of the evening. Missy Higgins gives them that break with her lovely piano-driven songs.
Finally, the crowd is ready for the highlight of the entire festival. The Afro Celts come out and bring things to a boil. They play all their best songs, both beautiful and intense and joyous. They end the evening with an all-star jam featuring Lunasa, Natalie, Joe Perry and BeauSoleil.
There are SO many other musicians and bands I could choose! But I'll stick to that lineup for now because we're running out of money to pay the performers.
03. It's summer and it's Hot, Hot, Hot! What music (song or lyrics) come to mind when you hear the words: hot ... heat ... summer
Hot - "Hot Blooded" by . . . Bad Company? I think? Help me out here, people!
Heat - "Red Light Special" by TLC. It gets hot under those red lights!
Summer - "Soak Up The Sun" by Sheryl Crow. That's what you do during summer. You soak up the sun.
04. Which live performance CD's are in your music collection? Which concerts on DVD do you own? Which concert CDs or DVDs are on your wishlist?
CDs: Alison Krauss and Union Station "Live"; BeauSoleil "Looking Back Tomorrow"; Jeff Buckley "Live at Sin-e"' Jeff Buckley "Mystery White Boy"; Natalie MacMaster "Live."
DVDs: BeauSoleil, Jeff Buckley, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Bonnie Rideout (A Scottish Christmas).
On the wishlist: Everything I don't already have.

You do write great reviews. Some artists I've never heard of, but other reviews are right on the money of the CDs I've heard. :-)
You have to be one of my favorite humpers of all time. If you aren't producing concerts and music events, you've missed your calling! I'd definitelty be attending your Fantasty Woodstock -- both days!
Thanks so much for playing along!
