Now THIS is my kind of Top Five On Friday!

Top 5 guitarists and your favorite song by each guitarist or his/her band.

1) Who else could I pick first but the incomparable Jimi Hendrix? I think my favorite song by Hendrix is "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" with "Fire" a close second.

2) My second favorite guitarist of all time is Stevie Ray Vaughan. My favorite song of Stevie's is actually a cover of a Hendrix tune. That tune, of course, is "Little Wing."

3) George Thorogood. You want gritty? You want dirty? You want loud? You want crazy? Then you want George. I love anything he does with the Destroyers, but the best will always be "Bad To The Bone."

4) He may not be as inventive as the others, but Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins still packs a major punch. He loves to fill his songs with layers of loud, distorted guitars and that gave the Pumpkins their signature sound. But he also knows when to lay back and give things an acoustic vibe. My favorite Smashing Pumpkins guitar song is "Cherub Rock."

5) Joe Perry of Aerosmith. He is a legend. That's all there is to say, really. "Baby, Please Don't Go" is what I'm listening to right now, and it's going to become an Aerosmith classic due to Joe's blistering guitar riffs.

Honorable mention goes to Slash of Guns n Roses, Lenny Kravitz, Bo Diddley, B.B. King, Angus Young of AC/DC! and a thousand other awesome guitar players. May Rock and Roll live forever.
