Monday Music Mambo Greetings! Today is Girlfriend's Day. We don't exactly know what that means or how we're supposed to celebrate it -- we don't make 'em up, kidoos, we just report it. So grab your girlfriend or your girl friend and let's dance!

01. What song(s) come to mind that mention a girl by name? Example: Oh, Sherry by Steve Perry

"Tristessa" by The Smashing Pumpkins
"Helena" by My Chemical Romance
"Barbara-Ann" by The Beach Boys
"Angie" by The Rolling Stones
"Angelyne" by The Jayhawks

That's all I can think of for now, unless I dig through all the Smashing Pumpkins' song titles.

02. What artist(s) or song(s) come to mind when you hear the word girl? Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper

"Just A Girl" by No Doubt
"Just Another" by Pete Yorn
"Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" by . . . ? Neil Diamond
"Girls And Boys" by Good Charlotte

As for artists - pretty much every female singer or band member ever. Especially, though, Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Aretha Franklin, and the last girl on earth, Deni Bonet.

03. Do you and your girlfriend (or your girl friend) have a song? If not, go ahead, designate one now.

My girl friend and I (notice the space between "girl" and "friend"!) have a few songs that are our songs. "Konstantine" by Something Corporate is one. "Bonnie and Clyde" by Jay-Z and Beyonce is another. "I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne is yet another. We both love music and sometimes we both love the same songs.

04. Let's have a little fun with rock-n-roll.

a) Name artists or groups whose name resembles rock? Example: Rolling Stones Or name songs which contain the word rock (or something similar) in the title or the lyrics.

"Rolling Stone" by Muddy Waters (I think)
"Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis Presley

"Stone Free" by Jimi Hendrix

The only group other than the Rolling Stones with a rock-related title that I can think of is Sly and the Family Stone.

b) Name songs which contain the word roll in the title or lyrics? Proud Mary - "rollin' on the river"

"Roll With It Baby" by Yet Another Band I Have Forgotten
Any song title with "rock and roll"

That's all I can think of.

Any help with songs that I couldn't find an artist for off the top of my head would be quite welcome.
