The Monday Music Mambo is far out today!
Well, whaddaya know ... today is a special day in music history. Today we are stardust, we are golden and we celebrate Woodstock Day commemorating the famous Woodstock music festival that rocked the world from August 15-17, 1969. Groovy, man. Let's put some flowers in our hair and ma-ma-mambo!
01. What artist, group or song(s) or lyrics come to mind when you hear the words: Woodstock, groovy, peace and love
Woodstock - Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana
Groovy - Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead
Peace and love - Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles
02. If you were going to Woodstock which bus would you get on, The Magic Bus or the Love Bus or would you just sit at the bus stop and let the festival pass you by?
I'd definitely be getting on the love bus! It's all about love, isn't it?
03. If you had been at Woodstock 1969 would you have been a biker, a hippy, a musician, a groupie, a vendor, a curious local gawking at the freaks or something else we haven't mentioned here?
I'd be the guy trying not to get too muddy or too caught up in the crowd.
04. Many artists have recorded the song, Woodstock. What current artist or band do you think would be perfect to cut a new version of Woodstock.
I have honestly never heard that song, or even heard OF it, so I have no clue who should record it.
05. Caption this picture.
Nothing would stop Pablo from getting his LSD hit, not even a cheap wooden fence held up by a stoned groupie.
06. If you could go back to Woodstock 1969 and only see three performances, which ones would they be and what particular song would you have wanted to hear them perform? For your convenience, below is a list of Woodstock performers. If you don't know the music of Woodstock, you can go HERE to see the artists and the songs they performed.
Jimi Hendrix - Message To Love, Red House, Fire, Star Spangled Banner, Purple Haze
The Who - Pinball Wizard, My Generation
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Born On The Bayou, Proud Mary, Suzy Q
07. Now choose three songs from that list and choose three current artists to perform them.
"Message To Love" performed by Lenny Kravitz (I swear that man is Jimi in a new body)
"Pinball Wizard" by Jet
"Born On The Bayou" by BeauSoleil. Unlike John Fogerty, Michael Doucet really WAS born on the bayou!

ick - that pic makes me think of the stench that that many hairy stinkin' hippies would generate. ;)
Yes -- being a flower child of Woodstock generation I can confirm it was all about love -- free love at that. It was an experience to be sure. LOL
You mambo'ed divinely, dahlink! Thanks for the spin on the dance floor.
