Sad news in music today. Fiddle player Vassar Clements died today at 77 years old. Not too many people know who he is, and I really don't know much about him myself, but he was a very good fiddler and played with many excellent musicians. I saw him perform in 2000 at a concert with BeauSoleil and other fiddle greats. He and his band played great and did everything from country to jazz and many other styles I really enjoyed his set and was glad to see such an influential folk musician live and in person.
We'll miss you, Vassar!
