Anyone out there use Yahoo! Myweb? Anyone even know what it is? For those who don't, Yahoo! Myweb is a personal search tool you can use to organize sites you find on the internet that you'd like to save for later viewing. You can either save the URL of the page, or a cached copy of the page so you can see what you saved even if the page changes.

The reason I'm posting this is because I found out today that Yahoo! has released a 2.0 beta version of the Myweb service. I've switched to the new version, and I think it's a definite improvement over the first version. The main difference is the use of tags to organize sites instead of folders. With the folders, you could only put sites into one category. Now that you can use tags, you can have as many categories as you wish! For example, you could organize my site as a blog, an entertainment blog, a site that uses green, a site about music, or any other thing you can think of. Yahoo! seems to be learning some new tricks from their adopted child Flickr.

The second new thing about Myweb is that Yahoo! has made it into a "social search engine." What that means is that, instead of seeing sites that Yahoo!'s search engine think are important and relevant, you will be seeing sites that real people think are cool and relevant. You can share your saved sites with everyone, contacts only, or make them totally private (again, just like Flickr!) I use Myweb mostly as a dumping spot for bookmarks, but I think this new version of the service could be useful.

Other things I'd like to mention today:

  • Last night's Surreal Life was probably the most dramatic episode I've ever seen! Secrets were revealed, threats were made, and tears were shed. The rest of the season is going to be incredibly interesting.
  • What's up with the Pussycat Dolls (the group that does the song "Don'tcha")? It seems like the dark haired chick is the only one who sings, and the rest of them repeat whatever she says and stand around looking pretty. What a waste of money to pay the other girls in the group to basically do nothing.
  • The releaes date of the latest from the Afro Celts, "Anatomic" is getting closer and closer!!

I don't know what to think about the Pussycat Dolls. I kinda liked the song the first time I heard it...but then I saw the video. Is the lead chick totally trying to act like J.Lo or is it just me?
