Today was a pretty interesting day for me. For the first time ever, I went to the Saturday Market in downtown Eugene. Basically, it's a weekly market where people perform, sell their goods, and celebrate being odd. I was there on a mission: to buy some postcards painted by a woman from New Orleans who somehow managed to leave before the hurricane hit. Her parents live in Oregon, so that's why the cards are being sold here. All the proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity and I wanted to do my part to help out.

After I got the cards, I had a good look around at all the booths. If you like jewelry or handmade clothing, it's the place for you! There are, of course, more things to buy and look at than just jewelry. I found a VERY cool looking handpainted Jimi Hendrix box at a booth run by a couple who make items like boxes and nighlights with celebrity and musician themes. The box sold for $25 but I bargained it down to $20. Maybe I should have tried for $15! In any case, I just couldn't leave there without that box! It will now hold my glasses while I sleep in my bed at night. It's so beautiful, and has little decals of Jimi all over it, inside and out and all over. I don't know how they made it, but it's awesome.

After that, I met my mom at the University so we could go to the art museum for the last weekend of the cool "Photography of the American West" exhibit. We looked around there for about an hour and a half (nearly killing my legs in the process) and then headed home.

All in all, not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon! I think I may go back to the market again once in a while. I don't know if I'll buy too much there because I'm not really the jewelry kind of guy, but I'm sure I'll find something cool there again!
