It's Monday, so that means another Monday Music Mambo! This week's theme is Christmas Carol Day, but I only made half the questions about that so that those who don't celebrate Christmas will have something to answer. It's called being tolerant and respectful of those different from you, folks.
On to the questions and answers:
1. What are some of your favorite Christmas carols or songs?
I love the classics. Jingle Bells, Jingle Bell Rock, Rudolph. Little Drummer Boy is a good one. I can't even begin to recall all the good Christmas songs out there, so I'll leave it at that.
2. Have you ever gone out caroling? How did it go?
I think I've been out caroling once. It was a long time ago, so I can't remember much about it. I'm sure it was probably cold. I don't remember anyone yelling at us or slamming a door in our face.
3. It's cold out there! What artist or band gets you warm and dancing?
A lot of music by the Afro Celt Sound System gets me going! BeauSoleil is also good, and maybe they'll make you think of the hot Louisiana bayou instead of the cold and snow.
4. Have you ever met any of your favorite musicians? Who are they, and what was the experience like? Did you get any autographs or photos?
The first musician I've met was Michael Doucet, the fiddle player, singer and overall leader of Beausoleil. He was a great guy, just like I expected. He told me a little about the DVD I bought, which he signed for me, and even signed an autograph for a friend of mine who likes his band too. It was quite surreal to meet this guy, whose music I've been a fan of for a few years now. I'd definitely like to meet him again someday.
The second person I've met is up and coming star Keri Noble. I first saw her when she opened for Jonny Lang in March. There was a huge crowd lined up for her autograph. I didn't get to talk to her that much, but she was very nice and very happy to meet everyone. The second time I met her was at another concert, this time just her, in July. It was a much smaller crowd, about twenty people, so I got to talk to her a little more that time. She's a great person and is definitely fan friendly.
I think Natalie MacMaster is coming back here next October, so hopefully I'll get to meet her as well. If I get a digital camera for my birthday, I'll try to take it and get a picture taken with her. I can already tell that she'll be a great person to meet. Her own mother answers emails on her website!
