Today, one of my greatest dreams came true.

I finally got to meet one of my best friends in the world, Jess!

She and some friends came into town today, and she told me about it yesterday. She arranged for us to meet up at a nearby mall. We did, and spent about 40 minutes together. No, that's not much time, but it was the best 40 minutes I've ever spent!

I met her online in October of 2002. We started a bit slow, but after a few weeks we started becoming really good friends. That friendship has just grown and grown since then. Today, we finally got to meet in person! That's what I've been wanting for so long, and now it's happened.

We met at Borders. I was watching the main entrance, but my intuition told me to look at the side entrance. I did, and I saw there there in the aisle. We hugged and then started walking and talking like we'd done it a thousand times before. No awkwardness here! It was surreal, though, finally seeing her in the flesh. We walked around Borders for a while, and then I went with her to Old Navy while she did some clothes shopping. Normal things, yes, but not so normal when done with your best friend in the world.

I really hope we'll do it again sometime and have more time to spend with each other. Here's a photo I had taken with her moments before she had to leave:

Russ, WOW! I have a "best friend" I met on line 2 years ago and we have never met face to face. How very cool! I've only met one blogging friend so far, (and his wife) and it was AWESOME!
