Someone on the Afro Celts Forum posted a link to sound clips from the next Afro Celts/Afro Celt Sound System album Anatomic. (I wonder if they've decided to actually stick with the name change, or just keep the old name so there's no confusion? The only official release so far with the Afro Celts name is Seed). I couldn't help myself and just HAD to take a listen.
I like what I'm hearing so far, although it doesn't sound like too many of the songs are upbeat. However, this is the Afro Celts we're dealing with, so a 30-second sound clip can tell you NOTHING about what the rest of the song will sound like. Anatomic will have nine songs, making it the shortest ACSS album since Volume 1. That's not a huge problem, though, because the Afro Celts usually don't make short songs. I am very glad (and hopeful) that the new album will not include any "intros" or instrumental versions of existing songs. It looks like we're getting nine full-length songs that are completely independent of each other and have their own sound.
I am extremely confused as to when the album is actually being released in the U.S. market. The Real World press release said September 10, and the HMV link says September 5. Neither of these dates is a Tuesday, which is the day new releases generally arrive in record stores in America. Hopefully the U.S. date is the sixth and not the 13th. Either way, I cannot wait to get my hands on this album!
