It's Monday again!! Time to Mambo!
Hi everyone! I'm here again with more mambo questions for you to shake your booty to. I bought some more music this week, and I got it cheap! So this week's mambo is all about value (or not) in music-buying.
1. What's the best deal you've found on a CD (or LP or Cassette if that's your thing)? CDs given to you as gifts do not count.
The best deal I've ever found was $1 CDs at a local record store that was going out of business. Most of the discs were of artists I hadn't ever heard of, but I did find a few gems.
2. Have you ever over-paid for a CD? That could be either an album you didn't think was worth the price, or an album that you bought and saw on sale a week later.
I once paid $23 or something like that for the Dixie Chicks CD "Home." It was the day after the Grammys, and I just HAD to have that album. The store, close to campus (same store as above, actually) only had the Deluxe edition. I could have gone elsewhere and bought the regular edition, but I wanted it right then so I bucked up and spent the money.
I also spent $30 on the Rolling Stones' "Forty Licks" for my birthday. That was a lot! I still think it was worth the price, though.
3. Do you think CDs are overpriced? If so, what do YOU think they should cost?
They most certainly are! I think the regular CDs should be, at most, $12 and the double CDs $15. I'm being very, very generous there. Ideally, they'd be closer to $10. I think the older CDs should be $10 and below.
Bonus question:
4. You're having a special musical Thanksgiving dinner this year! Who's at the table? Nine guests maximum, dead or alive (or both if we're talking about the Rolling Stones).
Jeff Buckley, Michael Doucet, Jimi Hendrix, Natalie MacMaster, Ozzy Osbourne, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Alison Krauss, Snoop Dogg. I think that would be a GREAT thanksgiving table!
